Laxmi Kamal Succulent Plant

Lakshmi Kamal plant is a beautiful and hardy succulent that grows well in shade and indirect sunlight. It makes such a popular houseplant because of its toughness and ability to grow well in a wide range of climates. 

All you need to do is pluck a healthy leaf, let it dry for a day or two, and plant it in succulent soil. You’ll see the plant starting to grow in a few weeks’ time!

The Lakshmi Kamal plant signifies life and renaissance. It is said in Bhagavad Geeta that each human must perform their duties without any attachment, just like the Lakshmi Kamal plant. The plant’s leaves are close to each other, and they together form a rosette. But even if we divide one leaf from the plant and put it in soil, it propagates itself into a new plant.

It is also represents to be a form of Goddess Lakshmi – the goddess of wealth. Keeping Lakshmi Kamal plant in house is believed to bring wealth and prosperity.

According to Vastu Shashtra, if a Lakshmi Kamal plant is kept in the northeast direction (Ishaan Disha) of the house, it can remove all of the architectural ‘Vastu dosh.’

The plant thrives well in the tropical Indian climate, so it won’t need much attention and maintenance. It also has the ability to adapt to a wide range of temperatures. It thrives in the shade just as well as it does in bright, indirect sunlight. And since it’s a succulent with leaves that can store water, it doesn’t need regular watering.

Planting And Care:-

Sunlight

• The indirect partial sunlight is good for the growth of the Plant.

Soil

• Please always use the well-drained and well-aerated soil.

Watering

• Water it usually once every 10 to 15 days to make sure the soil is not getting dry.
• Apply 1 cup of water when the upper layer of the soil in the pot feels dry.
• Do not overwater the plant.

Application of Fertilizer

• Before applying any kind of fertilizer make sure the topsoil of the pot is loosened and does not disturb the roots of the plant.
• Always apply water to the port immediately after the application of fertilizer.

Plant Protection

• Remove any dead, infected, or damaged parts of the plant and discard them away.
• For any disease or insect attack, you can use “Neem oil”, Eucalyptus oil, or Citrus oil spray for usual treatment.

Don'ts

• Do not overdo the watering especially when the pot does not have any drainage holes in it.
• Keep the plant away from the AC ducts.
